Report a problem with a streetlight

Report streetlights that are in need of repair or request new streetlights and light shields

What to do

To report a damaged traffic signal, please call 311 for quicker response.

1. Fill out a form

Describe the problem or request and where it is. 

We will need to know:

  • The location
  • The type of problem or request
  • The type of pole (concrete, metal, wooden, or unknown)

Include a photo of the streetlight and where it is located for faster response.

2. Track your case

After you report, you will get a tracking number from 311. You can use this number, or your email address, to track your case online or on the SF311 mobile app

Expected Response Time

The response time varies depending on the type of problem or request. 

  • Electrical wires exposed: 1 calendar day
  • Light burnt out: 5 business days
  • Light flickering on and off: 5 business days
  • Light too dim: 5 business days
  • Light always on: 5 business days
  • Request for a new streetlight: 30+ calendar days
  • Request for a new light shield: 90 calendar days
